You may have received a notice about a plan change for your TPG mobile service.

We’re simplifying our product range to provide a better experience for our customers. As part of that, we’re working to move all customers onto our latest mobile plans. This helps us focus on more important aspects of delivering your service, such as handling an increasing amount of usage on our network.

What does this mean for customers?

If your mobile service is affected by the change, you’ll get a notice from us explaining how your new mobile plan compares to your current plan.

  • The monthly price of your mobile plan may increase, decrease, or stay the same (after any applicable discounts).
  • The monthly data included with your plan may increase.
  • Your mobile plan’s monthly included value for international calls and SMS may increase.
  • The call rates for some International destinations may change. You can look up International rates on our website.
  • If you have a 5G plan, your mobile data speed cap may increase to 250Mbps. Our 5G network is available when you use a 5G-ready phone inside our 5G coverage area.
  • The name of your mobile plan will be updated to the name of your new plan.
  • Your mobile number and monthly billing period for your mobile service will stay the same.
  • Any existing promotional discount you have will continue until the promotion is complete.

 

When will my plan change?

Plan changes will happen automatically when your mobile plan next renews at least 30 days after your initial notice.

To see when your mobile plan next renews, log in to My Account. and hit Mobile Usage. You’ll see a line that says, “Your quota resets in XX days”, followed by the date.

 

Will this affect my Prepaid Balance?

Any Prepaid Balance you have will carry over to your new mobile plan.

You may find you don’t need to top up your Prepaid Balance as often as before, depending on your new plan’s included value.

 

Can I change my mobile plan?

We’ve chosen your new plan based on the price and value of your old plan.

If you’d prefer a different plan, you can switch to any of our current mobile plans in My Account.

Important: If you change your mobile plan, your scheduled plan change will not happen and the plan we’ve selected for you, including any promotional discounts, may not be available later.

Selected customers have been offered a “Classic” plan, which is available by invitation only. If you change or cancel your Classic mobile plan, you cannot return to the Classic plan in the future.

 

How are international call rates changing?

International flagfall will change from 40c to 35c. For many destinations, call rates will become cheaper – you can look up International rates on our website.

Please note that four destinations will have an increased call rate as follows:

What happens if I cancel my plan? 

If you want to cancel your mobile plan due to this change, you can call us on 13 14 23, and you won’t be charged a cancellation fee.

To keep your mobile number, you’ll need to transfer it to another provider before cancelling with us.

Off Off = Nothing is plugged into the 2.5G port.
Green = A device is plugged in with a CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable.
Yellow = A device is plugged in with an older CAT5 Ethernet cable, which may not support the full speed of your nbn HFC plan. We recommend switching to a CAT5e ot CAT6 Ethernet cable.

Light States and meaning
Power Off = No power.
Green = Your NCB has power.
Downstream Off = Your NCB is still searching for a connection, or has no power.
Green = Your NCB can download data.
Flashing green = A firmware upgrade is in progress - this should take 10 minutes or less.

This information is for TPG customers on older mobile plans (sold before 12 July 2021) and 3G mobile broadband plans that use the Optus network.

Optus will start shutting down their 3G network from 28 October 2024. For more information about the TPG 3G shutdown, see our 3G Network Closure FAQ.

Our priority is to help customers make a smooth transition to 4G or 5G mobile, or an alternative broadband service.

My TPG mobile plan uses the Optus network - what do I need to do?

If you got your TPG mobile plan before 12 July 2021 and you use a 3G-only phone, tablets or mobile device;

  1. You need to urgently upgrade to a 4G or 5G compatible device before 28 October 2024; and
  2. Check that VoLTE settings are turned on.

If your device doesn’t support 4G calling, you will not be able to make an emergency call to 000 after the 3G network shuts down.

 

I have a 3G mobile broadband plan – what do I need to do?

Your 3G mobile broadband service will stop working once the Optus 3G network is shut down.

You’ll need to switch to an alternative internet service as soon as possible to avoid any interruption to your mobile broadband service.

Once you’re online with your new internet service, call us on 1300 993 019 to cancel your TPG 3G mobile broadband plan. You won’t be charged any cancellation fees.

If your mobile broadband modem is not compatible with your new internet service, please consider eWaste recycling facilities which may be offered by your local council.

 

What coverage does the Optus 4G/5G network have?

You can check Optus 4G and 5G coverage on the Optus coverage map.

 

These rates are for older TPG mobile plans sold before 2 August 2024. They apply when using your TPG mobile to call International destinations from Australia.

If your TPG mobile plan doesn't have an add-on International Call Pack or the destination you're calling isn't included in the International Call Pack, you can top up your Prepaid Balance in My Account to pay for International calls.

Information for customers with a credit balance on their Chariot Internet accounts

Customers with a credit balance on their Chariot account will be notified by TPG to call us on 1300 137 425 before a certain deadline to arrange a refund to a nominated bank account.

Once requested, refunds will be processed within 10 working days.

 

Are other refund methods available?

No, refunds may only be processed to a nominated bank account. Refunds via credit card or cheque are not available.

 

What happens if a refund is not claimed?

  • Refunds under $20 (Inclusive): After 25 August 2024, these refunds will be forfeited and can no longer be claimed from TPG.
  • Refunds between $20.01 - $100.00: After 31 January 2025, these refunds will be forfeited and can no longer be claimed from TPG.
  • Refunds over $100.01: After 30 September 2026, these refunds will be transferred to Revenue NSW under the Unclaimed Monies Act without further notice to you and can no longer be claimed from TPG.

Refunds above $100.01 that have remained unclaimed for a period of 6 years have already been transferred to Revenue NSW.

The current list of Approved Devices is set out below (please click the relevant manufacturer below for details).  It is important to note that an Approved Device will only be considered approved if: 

  1. it is included in the device list below; 
  2. its software has been updated to the most recent version available, and (for mobile phones) it has VoLTE 4G calling enabled in settings; 
  3. it is an Australian device model purchased in Australia; and
  4. it is not a Samsung, Sony or HTC device purchased from another Australian telecommunication provider before 2017.  

TPG may add or withdraw devices from this list from time to time. 

WARNING: Using a mobile phone on our network other than an Approved Device with the latest software installed and VoLTE 4G calling enabled may impact your access to critical features, in particular your ability to make calls to emergency services.  

A TPG SIM and/or eSIM that is used in non-approved devices may be suspended by TPG, unless TPG has otherwise given approval in writing. TPG may also block any such device from being used on the TPG Network. TPG has made the decision to stop providing email services in 2023 to focus on creating better experiences for our core products: internet and mobile.

Customers who opted-in have now had their TPG email addresses transferred to another Australian email provider, The Messaging Company.

 

Who do I contact about my TPG email address?

Please contact The Messaging Company about support for these email addresses as TPG will no longer be able to assist.

You can call The Messaging Company on 07 3497 3566 or submit a new request to their Support Centre.

Please note: The opt-in period has now closed, and any email address that was not opted-in has now been deleted and cannot be recovered. It is not possible to create new email addresses that use the “tpg.com.au” domain.

 

Will I need to pay anything to use my TPG email address with The Messaging Company?

If your email address was included with your TPG services: you won't need to pay anything to use your TPG email address with The Messaging Company until 15 September 2024.

At least 60 days prior to 15 September 2024, The Messaging Company will contact customers with pricing options that will apply if you wish to continue using your TPG email address with The Messaging Company.

If you paid for a TPG email address: The Messaging Company will contact you with pricing options that will apply if you wish to continue using your TPG email address with The Messaging Company.

TPG is not able to provide any information about The Messaging Company's email pricing.

 

Terms and Conditions of Email Transfer

By opting-in to transfer your TPG email service to The Messaging Company email platform, you acknowledge and agree that:

  1. We may disclose your personal information (i.e. your name, email address and contact number) to The Messaging Company for the purpose of facilitating your email transfer and you consent to this. The Messaging Company's privacy notice is available at: https://themessaging.co/privacy-notice/
  2. You will need to sign up with The Messaging Company as your email hosting provider and agree to their terms and conditions, and you will become a direct customer of The Messaging Company’s email service.
  3. Your TPG email service will be transferred to The Messaging Company email platform, and The Messaging Company will be responsible for providing your email service after the transfer.
  4. TPG will pay The Messaging Company email service charge until 15 September 2024. After 15 September 2024, you will be responsible for paying any charges you incur for the email service. The Messaging Company will contact customers with available pricing options at least 60 days prior to commencing charges for the email service.
  5. TPG grants you the right to use your current email address, which incorporates one or more domain names owned by TPG or one of our affiliates (e.g. @tpg.com.au).
  6. TPG may withdraw the right for you to use your current email address when you cease acquiring services from TPG or one of our affiliates.
  7. TPG may also revoke the right in (4) above for other reasons, but we will endeavour to give you at least 60 days’ prior notice before that happens.
  8. Your use of your current email address, which incorporates one or more domain names owned by TPG or our affiliates, is not transferable to another email service provider.
  9. When The Messaging Company begins providing your email services, TPG and its affiliates will not be responsible to you in any way in connection with your email service (e.g. providing setup or troubleshooting support; security; service quality).
  10. If you contact us regarding your The Messaging Company email service, we may refer your inquiry to The Messaging Company directly, including by disclosing your personal information to The Messaging Company to help facilitate their prompt response to you. You consent to us disclosing your information to The Messaging Company for this purpose. Got an issue with your nbn service? You can run a service test in My Account once every 30 minutes.

 

Tip: You don't need to use a device that's connected to your nbn service to run the test. You can use your phone or any other device that's connected to another internet service.

 

  1. Make sure that your nbn modem is turned on.
